surprisingly this still plays. what a lucky duck to get this one as i loved the first full length which was widely available.

i'm enjoying this disc again right now...

The tracks on this recording were completed in November 1992, anticipating live globalwavesystem performances that never happened. The mixed are all more in line with the band's intended sound for the full-length album Life Equals Death, which was recorded in a rush in August, 1992.

These versions of the songs represent some of the most interesting changes in the arrangements from the album. All are instrumental versions with no instruments excluded for live performances.

"Evaluate," from the original Will Not Play With Power 1.35, and the never-before released cover track, "The Hydrogen Bomb," have also been included.

"The (Hydrogen) Bomb" is an instrumental cover of the Lifesavers Underground song, "The Bomb."

TIMINGILA - "s/t" (limited edition 1995 oral gestation artefacts)

the cover looks like something that belongs on a proud parents refrigerator.

one of my more cherished cassettes from yesteryear...

 Timingila had this tape released and distributed by o.g.a. (oral gestation artefacts) in the mid 90's. credits: Electronics – John Wiese

the tape consists of some very interesting experimental recordings, some of which with more industrial leanings, strange but very enjoyable imho.

anyway, check it out...there is absolutely nothing to be found about this on the web thus far which is quite unfortunate. (at least as far as i can tell)

various artists - "The Celsius Effect" (1998 Seppuku Records)

The Celsius Effect was put together by Joseph Kopnick of Killing the Old Man with help from Flaming Fish Music and is one of the more varied compilations to be released in the underground. There are a mix of styles here: industrial, goth rock, acoustic alternative, synthpop, and even a touch of experimental. There is a mix of well-known bands and exciting brand new acts. And there is a mix of familiar tracks and previously unreleased ones.

Massivivid's popular "A Hand Brushed by Tired Eyes" is slotted in as track number one. The energetic guitars, untreated melodic vocals and electro percussion make for a tight industrial rock groove. (available on the Massivivid demo album)

Next up is easy electro listening with Pivot Clowj's "Siamese". The band's trademark soft, sullen voice blankets the steady stream of electro sequencing and light ambient synth touches. Another great track from this rising band. (previously unreleased)

Dies Domini makes its very first appearance with "Hate". The repetitive guitar rhythym drags on for most of the song is only augmented by bits of hard chord strikes. The deeper, retro vocals are different from the other goth bands I've heard and stick to a pretty narrow range. The result is a long song that is hard to sit all the way through. (previously unreleased)

After that, things shift gears again with The Way Sect Bloom's acoustic electro-pop piece "Effloresce". The reverb on the melodic vocals is pretty cool and the positive message is refreshing to hear. (available on The Way Sect Bloom -Effloresce album)

If you like acoustic guitar songs, then "Coin" by newcomer Lost is sure to please. Like the WSB track, "Lost" treats the melodic, easy singing with echoing distortion. Fans of Mike Knott and other acousitc alternative acts should enjoy this fine song. (available on Lost - Deathscapes and Breakdowns album)

Track number six is Tempestuous All's "Clarion". No the 30 seconds is not a manufacturing defect (I asked) but rather a tease. The real "Clarion" is found playing backwards as track number 18. You can load the song into your computer and reverse it to hear it the way it was intended. (previously unreleased)

Killing the Old Man's "Chance and Change" starts off a string of hits on the compilation. It's experimental with dark whispers and strange guitar noises yet has enough structure keep you interested. A creative song from a talented band. (available on the Killing the Old Man - Dementia 13 album)

Cybershadow's "Social Conditioning" undergoes yet another remix, this time being described as onlysocialinthedarkmix. The result is an awesome dance electro track mixed with dark ambient that sounds very different from the original except for the vocals, which are pushed through the second half of this lengthy nine minute track. (previously unreleased)

Rusted Pig wins the "best new band" award with their impressive "Control". No this is not a cover of the popular Abstain debut song, but rather some killer dark electro noise. Pounding bass beats, mechanical percussion, a distorted synth line and whispered vocals blend seamlessly together. The second half of the song plays around with the tempo of these elements and the vocal delivery. (previously unreleased)

If that's not enough to satisfy your industrial cravings, then the double whammy of globalwavesystem's hit "Smog" and Autovoice's incredible "The Perfect Solution" may be enough to knock you off your feet. Two great dark electro tracks from two of the hottest industrial bands in the scene today. (the gws song is available on the Full Frontal Lobotomy compilation and the Autovoice song is from the A Living Death album)

Internal Empty likes to make a nuissance of himself on compilations and tries it again with "El Abba". More experimental mechanical rumblings from this purveyor of noise, but this one's bearable and a bit like Human Knot Farm. (exclusive to this compilation)

And that's not all there is to the compilation. Track 22 is a cool hidden bonus track, but when I asked around who was behind it peoples lip's were sealed. I thought it was obvious who it is but I was wrong.

Overall, this is a pretty good compilation with more variety than most other compilations being marketed towards industrial/goth fans. There are no flops though there certainly are some tracks I will be listening to more frequently than others, namely the KtOM, Cybershadow, Rusted Pig, globalwavesystem and Autovoice string of hits. Now If I could just figure out how to record the Tempestuous All track in my computer so I can reverse it I'd be even more pleased with this fine compilation.

far different from the early speed/death fear of faith stuff and also the later 'more conventional' industry XI stuff...this shit here is great in its own right.  one of the few cases where we find a strange juxtaposition...making for some great ends.

here's a very old review from ballistic test zine....

"A year after knocking the socks off the metal and industrial underground crowds with their two extreme industrial-metal demos Dredge and Tension, Fear of Faith released their third demo, Blind, with a surprising change in style. Gone are the blazing guitars and hard-hitting percussion, while the harsh, distorted vocals and liberal use of voice samples remain relatively untouched. In comes mostly melodic acoustic guitars, minimal use of electric guitars, and a deliberate vocal attempt to convey a greater range of emotion, albeit still behind a guise of distortion.There are four songs here: the title track "Blind", "Withdrawn", which was featured on the Electro Shock Therapy compilation, "I and Those Who Were", and "Dying for One". The easy-listening, mellower music and the harsher vocals provide a stark contrast, but the band effectively turns them into complementary elements instead of the expected conflict or mismatch. The four songs sound rather alike with similar guitar progressions and vocals but this is hardly a problem as the melodies the guitars emanate are quite nice. The song I like best off Blind is "Dying for One", with its cool industrial underlayer of mechanical pistons and bass rumblings.

On one hand, FoF may have lost some fans of their early material with this relatively tame, metal-free release. On the other hand, their creativity and ability to progress musically beyond the confines of an industrial-speed-metal approach earn them greater respect. As it is, Blind is the most distinctive and accessible of the band's three demos.

This was the second split cd from anaphylaxis after the d-503 split cd. It was long-delayed due to various circumstances, and was sadly limited to only 13 copies due to production problems. It was released at Cornerstone 2001 and is now out of print.

The anaphylaxis tracks from this release were re-released on the respite cd reissue.

i really didn't appreciate this when i got it (shame on me), but then again i bought it at a high import price from a jacked distro who described it incredibly different than it is.  (you'll see that this sounds nothing like brigherdeathnow or mental destruction)

so strange...see discogs.com for their classification.

anyway, its a shame because almost 20 years later (most of) this album thrills me.

cradle->grave was an instant fave of mine. they produced some truly amazing work in their short life.

"This short demo tape features three enjoyable songs that are clearly distinctive from one another. "Freedomslave" begins with simple piano keys, dark ambient synths, drums and distorted spoken word. The synth and percussion layers soon build in complexity and aggressiveness to run the song through its course. Lyrics question the concept of freedom and whether or not it is just a disguised form of slavery. "You are of Broadest Skies" creates a noticeably darker atmosphere with flowing melancholy ambient synths that carry a slight edge, comfortable mechanical percussion, and soft whispers. This is an appropriate and poignant requiem for a departed loved one indeed. The third song is entitled "Moths". While the song does have a seemingly slow intro with just bongos and minimalistic synth effects, it is well worth the effort to pay attention. C->G here again demonstrates patience and the ability to incorporate different layers progressively. The tribal percussion is soon joined by a nice clashing symbol and sweet soothing synths. The only lyrics to this song speak these words of wisdom "What moth is not drawn to the flame, and whose wings are not tapered by the luring light?" With these three songs, C->G performs smooth, dark electro-industrial that leaves me thirsty for more.
